When the balance of good and evil comes to an end

When rulers become despots, and truth is inversely bent,

When animals are slaughtered, and the helpless innocent suffers,

As destiny of the macrocosm hangs in plight

Then is when He is born to bring about light.

The night was dark, overcasting the sky, and they all knew the reason why

The father was in manacles and the mother bound with chain

The evil King lay on his golden bed, sleepless and filled with pain

Unanticipatedly Devaki’s sleepy eyes

could see an aurora fill the dungeon Main!

‘O, oppressed mother, worry not for your troubles are about to end’ echoed a celestial voice

As the intonation faded, cried Vasudeva ‘look who here lies,

as luminous as the Sun, against the dark soot of the floor below the skies ’

Around them, a miracle as guards fell to slumber,

When the voice spoke ‘O helpless father,

do your duty, protect the protector of the world’.

Vasudeva picked up the little bundle, persevering to carry it to safety

He stepped out in the hail and the storm, clutching the Infant in his arm to refuge

The earth shook and out emerged Vasuki,

the primordial protector disciple of the Lord

His coils parted the flood as his head sheltered all from the lashing of the deluge

Under the hood of the Divine serpent, on went Vasudeva to Dwarka,

to the doors of the good man Nanda.

he graced the Lord in his shelter, placed him with his own Balarama,

And his loving wife Yashoda

Here was where he was to grow, loved and adored by all those who know!

Epitomises this the tale of His birth, the benefactor of the Earth

Of Him, who was the charioteer in the war against adharma

He who slew demons, vanquished evil, liberated the men

The Final Avatar of the Preserver of Cosmos, Lord Shri Krishna.
